Driver Arrested on DUII and Assault Charges After Crashing Truck Into Office

Truck crashes into medical office

Medford, Oregon- A 43-year-old man was arrested Wednesday following a crash last week in which a pickup truck plowed into a dental office, seriously injuring an employee, police said.

The crash occurred Friday, May 9, near the intersection of Siskiyou Boulevard and Lazy Creek Drive, according to the Medford Police Department. A Community Service Officer parked nearby witnessed a white 2008 Ford F250 slam through the side of the building and immediately called for assistance while helping coordinate emergency care.

A 56-year-old female employee inside the office was seriously injured and transported to a nearby hospital, where she remains in stable condition. The driver of the truck, identified as Phillip John Hill, was also hospitalized.

The Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) team led the investigation. On Wednesday, investigators arrested Hill, on charges of second-degree assault, driving under the influence of intoxicants (controlled substance), reckless endangerment, and reckless driving. He was lodged at the Jackson County Jail.

The case has been referred to the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
