Wanted Southern Oregon Fugitive Apprehended After Years on the Run

Grants Pass, Oregon- A fugitive wanted in connection with a 2021 criminal case in Josephine County has been apprehended in San Antonio, Texas, following a multi-agency effort.

David Gilbert Brazil was arrested on March 31, 2025, by the United States Marshals Service (USMS) Lone Star Fugitive Task Force (LSFTF) in San Antonio. The arrest follows a coordinated investigation led by the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with the USMS Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force (PNVOTF).

Brazil faces multiple charges stemming from the 2021 incident in Oregon, including Kidnapping, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Assault in the Fourth Degree, Strangulation, Coercion, and Unlawful Use of a Vehicle.

After the initial incident, Brazil fled the state and had remained a fugitive for several years. Recent developments led the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office and PNVOTF to information regarding his location. Authorities then collaborated with the USMS Western District of Texas to facilitate the arrest.

Brazil is currently being held in Texas and is awaiting extradition to Josephine County to face charges.
