Medford, Oregon- Renovation work at Howard School Park is nearing completion, with the project on track to finish by Memorial Day. Construction began in July 2024 and is approximately 90 percent complete, according to city officials.
The 9.2-acre neighborhood park, located along Mace Road near Howard Elementary School in northwest Medford, is undergoing several upgrades. New features include pickleball courts, a splash pad, a dog park, a small basketball court, and a Portland Loo public restroom.
One notable addition is the installation of the city’s first Lappset interactive playground equipment. Designed to provide a technology-enhanced play experience, the equipment is expected to attract increased use by children and families in the area.
Adroit Construction Co. is handling the project. Remaining work includes landscaping and irrigation, which are contingent on weather conditions. The Portland Loo restroom is scheduled for installation in September.
The total cost of the project is $2.3 million. Funding was provided through a combination of sources: a $714,300 Local Government Grant, $925,800 in American Rescue Plan Act funds, and allocations from the Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department’s Capital Improvement Fund.
City officials expect the renovated park to serve as a key recreational space for the surrounding neighborhood once completed.
