Dog-of-the-Week: Bentley Seeks Calm, Committed Forever Home

Jackson County Animal Shelter

Phoenix, Oregon- Bentley, a 1-year, 10-month-old German Shepherd, is currently available for adoption at the Jackson County Animal Shelter and is this week’s Dog of the Week! Described as intelligent and calm, Bentley is looking for a home that can provide both structure and space to meet her physical and mental needs.

Bentley’s temperament reflects a balance of energy and tranquility. While she exhibits the activity level typical of her breed and age, shelter staff say she also enjoys a peaceful environment. “She’s eager to engage but also values calm surroundings,” shelter staff noted.

Bentley knows basic commands like “sit” and “lie down” and is ready to continue her training with a dedicated family. “As a German Shepherd, she will thrive with someone who understands the breed’s need for both physical and mental stimulation,” shelter staff added.

However, Bentley is not suitable for homes with small animals, particularly chickens, due to her prey drive. A meet-and-greet is recommended for potential adopters who already have dogs in the home.

Bentley has been in the shelter’s care for over 100 days. As a result, her adoption fees are currently waived, though licensing fees still apply for Jackson County residents.

In addition to Bentley’s waived fees, the shelter is hosting a spring adoption promotion from Tuesday, April 1, through Sunday, April 6, 2025. During this time, all regular-priced adoption fees are 50% off. Dogs in the shelter’s care for 75 to 99 days have adoption fees reduced to $75, while those housed for 100 days or more, like Bentley, are available with no adoption fee.

The Jackson County Animal Shelter encourages anyone interested in adopting Bentley or another dog to visit during the promotional period. “We want to help welcome spring with a new four-legged best friend in tow,” the shelter said.

Adoption means embarking on a shared adventure filled with learning, unforgettable experiences, and the warm companionship of these lively dogs. The shelter encourages individuals interested in meeting and potentially adopting these lovable animals to reach out. Contact the shelter at 541-774-6654, press 5 for adoptions, and start the process of welcoming these sweethearts into your loving home.
