Bicyclist Killed in Collision on Highway 97 in Klamath County

Klamath County, Oregon- A bicyclist died following a collision with a vehicle at the intersection of Crater Lake Parkway (Highway 97 Business) and Shasta Way on Wednesday morning, March 12, 2025.

According to the Oregon State Police (OSP), the incident occurred at approximately 9:42 a.m. A preliminary investigation indicated that Douglas Duane Robinson, 48, of Klamath Falls, was operating an electric bicycle westbound when he entered the intersection against a red light. Robinson was struck by a southbound Subaru Outback driven by Mary Jane Richardson, 64, of Chiloquin.

Robinson was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Richardson was not physically injured in the incident.

The highway was closed for about one hour during the investigation.

OSP was assisted at the scene by the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office, Klamath County Fire 1, and the Oregon Department of Transportation. The investigation is ongoing.
