Medford, Oregon- The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) is advising travelers to avoid mountain passes through the weekend due to dangerous weather conditions. The High Cascades section near Diamond Lake and Crater Lake is particularly affected, including OR 230 north of Union Creek and OR 138 between Diamond Lake Junction (OR 230) and U.S. 97.
Crews have reported intermittent white-out conditions, with vehicles losing traction and blocking the road. Long delays are common. Forecasts predict heavy snow and high winds will continue through tonight and Sunday.
ODOT recommends against travel until conditions improve. No services are available in the affected area, and mobile phone coverage is limited.
