Proposed New Mural to be Reviewed for Downtown Medford

Downtown Medford
Rendering of Proposed Mural

Medford, Oregon- A new 900-square-foot mural may soon be installed in downtown Medford. The City of Medford’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Facilities, in collaboration with the Rogue Valley Art Association, has proposed the artwork for the north wall of the Rogue Gallery at 40 N. Bartlett Street.

The mural design features maroon tones with large pink flowers. Local artist Ryan Moon, who has experience with outdoor murals, has been selected for the project. He will prepare the surface, use professional-grade materials, and apply a protective anti-graffiti coating.

Once installed, the City of Medford will assume responsibility for the mural’s maintenance and repair under an agreement with the property owner.

Although the site was not identified as historically significant in the Downtown Commercial Area Survey of Historic and Cultural Resources, it is within the Historic Downtown District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Landmarks and Historic Preservation Commission will review the proposal during a meeting on Tuesday, March 4, at 5:30 PM in Council Chambers at Medford City Hall.
