Controlled Burn Scheduled in Ashland’s Siskiyou Mountain Park

Ashland, Oregon- The City of Ashland and Lomakatsi Restoration Project are conducting a controlled burn today from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM in Siskiyou Mountain Park.

The burn aims to consume burn piles on city-owned forest lands as part of the Ashland Forestland Climate Adaptation Project, which is managed by the City of Ashland and Ashland Parks and Recreation.

If weather conditions allow, additional burning is planned for tomorrow.

Smoke from the burn will impact trails near the area, including the upper Mike Uhtoff, White Rabbit, and Queen of Hearts trails. Officials recommend avoiding these trails due to potential delays and smoke exposure.

Smoke Impact Advisory

Authorities expect significant smoke impacts in areas surrounding Siskiyou Mountain Park, Walker Street, and neighborhoods near Southern Oregon University and Ashland High School. Dense smoke may affect all trails in the burn area at times, and physical activity is not recommended in smoky conditions.
