Near Klamath Falls, Oregon- Two people died in a head-on collision on Highway 97 early Monday morning, according to the Oregon State Police (OSP).
OSP responded to the crash at approximately 5:42 a.m. near milepost 284. A preliminary investigation determined that a northbound Nissan Frontier, driven by Derek Ryan Ford, 30, of Woodland, Colorado, crossed the center line for unknown reasons and collided head-on with a southbound Dodge Ram 1500. The Dodge was driven by Amy Wilson, 48, of Klamath Falls.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
The highway remained closed for approximately three hours during the on-scene investigation. OSP was assisted by the Klamath County Fire District and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
