Fake Gun Incident Reported at South Medford High School

Medford, Oregon- A student at South Medford High School reported the presence of a weapon on campus Monday, prompting an immediate response from school officials and law enforcement.

According to Principal Jonathan Lyons, the school’s resource officer and administrative team conducted an investigation and determined that the reported gun was not real.

“Weapons of any kind, including fake weapons, are not tolerated at South and are prohibited districtwide per Board policy, and as a result, the student has been suspended,” Lyons stated.

He commended the student who reported the incident, emphasizing the importance of vigilance. “Please, always encourage your students to say something if they see something suspicious,” he added.

South Medford High School and the Medford School District reiterated their commitment to safety, security, and transparency in handling such matters. Parents or community members with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact the school administration.
