Providence and ONA Reach Tentative Agreements to End Historic Strike

Portland, Oregon- After three days of intensive negotiations facilitated by federal mediators, Providence’s Oregon bargaining teams have reached tentative agreements with nurses at all eight Providence hospitals in the state.

The Oregon Nurses Association (ONA) will now present the details of the agreements to nurses in each bargaining unit and oversee the ratification voting process.

“Providence is hopeful that ONA-represented nurses will ratify the tentative agreements that pave a solid path forward for us all,” said Jennifer Burrows, chief executive of Providence Oregon.

The agreements mark a significant step toward ensuring stability within Providence hospitals and strengthening the relationship between the healthcare system and its nursing workforce.

“Together, we look forward to continuing to provide excellent and compassionate care for our patients in these communities we serve,” Burrows added.

As nurses review the terms of the agreements, the ratification process will determine the next steps in solidifying these new contracts and shaping the future of patient care at Providence hospitals across Oregon.
