Two Southern Oregon Joann Locations to Close as Company Shutters 500+ Stores

Medford, Oregon- Joann, the national fabric and crafts retailer, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the second time in less than a year and plans to close more than half of its stores. The company submitted a motion in bankruptcy court on February 12, 2025, requesting approval to shut down approximately 533 of its 800 U.S. locations.

“On February 12, 2025, Joann filed a motion seeking court authority to begin closing approximately 500 stores across the nation,” the company stated. “Right-sizing the store footprint is a critical part of the efforts to ensure the best path forward for Joann.”

The company, which has operated for over 80 years, emphasized its commitment to serving its customers during the restructuring process. “Joann is committed to providing its customers – the sewists, quilters, crocheters, crafters, and other creative enthusiasts the company has served for more than 80 years – with great service and assortments throughout this process.”

Among the affected locations, 15 stores in Oregon are set to close, including those in Grants Pass and Klamath Falls. The Joann store in Medford, located at Poplar Square in north Medford, will remain open.

The company has not disclosed a timeline for the closures or further details on the impact on employees.
