Pacific Empire League Partners with “Know Your Role” to Promote Sportsmanship

Medford, Oregon- The Pacific Empire League (PEL) has officially partnered with the “Know Your Role” campaign, an initiative led by the Southern Oregon Sports Commission and Travel Medford. The collaboration aims to encourage positive conduct in sports across Oregon and California by fostering a culture of respect for athletes, officials, and the broader sports community.

Dave May, President of the Medford Rogues, emphasized the significance of this development. “It is incredible to expand our involvement with the Know Your Role campaign. Having partnered with them for nearly two years, we’re thrilled to introduce this initiative league-wide,” May said.

The “Know Your Role” campaign was created to combat negative behavior in sports environments and promote sportsmanship through education and awareness. Darren Van Lehn, Director of Sports Development for Travel Medford, highlighted the importance of the league’s support.

“The Southern Oregon Sports Commission and the Know Your Role campaign are excited to have the Pacific Empire League on board with our mission to improve the culture of sports and help get more athletes and officials back involved with the game they love,” Van Lehn stated. “Dave May and the Medford Rogues have been longtime supporters of Know Your Role, and we’re thankful to them for helping to bridge a connection with Natalie Norman and the entire Pacific Empire League. With the PEL on board, we are able to expand the reach of Know Your Role in Oregon and California and truly make a difference in our communities for generations to come.”

The partnership includes the six founding teams of the Pacific Empire League: the Healdsburg Prune Packers, Medford Rogues, West Coast Kings, Solano Mudcats, Lincoln Potters, and Humboldt Crabs. These teams represent some of the nation’s most historic and successful summer collegiate baseball programs.

The Pacific Empire League is recognized for showcasing elite talent from across the country, including athletes from Division I and Power 4 programs, many of whom advance to Major League Baseball. The partnership with “Know Your Role” represents a significant step toward enhancing sports culture and ensuring positive experiences for both athletes and officials.

By aligning with this initiative, the Pacific Empire League hopes to foster a respectful and inclusive environment in sports, benefiting players, fans, and communities throughout Oregon and California.
