Medford, Oregon- Pacific Power crews have made significant strides in restoring electricity to customers across southern Oregon and northern California following severe winter storms that caused widespread outages. Heavy snowfall created hazardous conditions, delaying some repairs, but thousands of customers have already had their power restored.
As of Wednesday afternoon, 97% of the customers impacted by outages had service restored. Crews are now focusing on restoring power in the Grants Pass, Medford, and Klamath Falls areas, with full restoration expected by Thursday evening.
Over 300 field crews and personnel are involved in the repair efforts, working continuously to restore service. Crews are addressing more than 200 spans of downed power lines, broken poles, and other damaged electrical equipment. In some locations, repair teams have faced challenges, including working in three feet of snow and clearing downed trees blocking access to roads.
“These are tough conditions to work in, without a doubt, but our crews are doing everything they can, working around the clock to get the power back on,” said Tom Eide, Pacific Power’s vice president of operations. “We thank our customers for their patience and understanding as we continue to repair and restore their service.”
Customers can view current restoration estimates on the company’s website at pacificpower.net/outages or report outages by calling 1-877-508-5088. They can also text OUT to 722797 to report an outage or STAT to check the status of an existing report.
Pacific Power advises customers with safety concerns to contact local service providers by dialing 2-1-1. Crews will continue working until all power is fully restored.
