


Medford, Oregon– This evening at approximately 5:47 p.m., Medford Fire Department crews responded to a structural collapse involving entrapment after a carport failed under the weight of heavy snowfall. A man became trapped beneath the collapsed structure until a neighbor, who heard his calls for help, contacted emergency services.
Medford Fire dispatched Engine 15, Heavy Rescue 14, and Squad 14 to the scene. Using technical rescue techniques and specialized equipment, responders successfully lifted the collapsed carport and freed the trapped individual.
Following the rescue, Mercy Flights Inc transported the man to a local medical facility for treatment. His condition has not been disclosed.
In response to the incident, Medford Fire officials issued a reminder to the public to remain cautious during the ongoing heavy snowfall. They advised residents to avoid standing under snow-laden tree limbs, carports, awnings, and other structures that may be vulnerable to collapse.
Authorities commended the neighbor for the quick decision to call 911 and praised the swift actions of emergency crews that ensured a safe rescue.
