Downtown Medford, Oregon- Two long-established businesses in downtown Medford have entered a new era under new ownership. Oh’s Osaka and Root Jewelers, both well-known local businesses, have recently undergone leadership changes in the recent months.
Oh’s Osaka: New Owners and Refreshed Look

Oh’s Osaka, located at 123 S. Front Street, is now under the ownership of Jim Winans and Mike Chacon, who held a grand reopening on January 10. The restaurant, a staple in the downtown community since 1995, is known for its teppanyaki-style cuisine and sushi offerings.
“Same delicious menu, now with great service,” said Winans. The restaurant has been refurbished with new paint and flooring. Mr. Oh, the founder, continues to serve as a sushi and teppanyaki chef, ensuring consistency in the dining experience.
Winans emphasized their vision for the restaurant: “We think there’s potential to have a great restaurant here; we want to create a family-affordable, fun restaurant.” Chacon added, “The response has been encouraging and will only grow as people experience the new and improved dining.”
Oh’s Osaka is open daily from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., except on Wednesdays. Reservations for teppanyaki grill seats are recommended and available through Google Reservations. Delivery is also offered via DoorDash.
Root Jewelers: A New Chapter for a Busy Downtown Corner

Formerly Holliday Jewelry, the store at 2 N. Central Avenue has been rebranded as Root Jewelers under the leadership of Matthew Root, a longtime jewelry professional and former manager of Holliday Jewelry. The transition became official in January following the retirement of Ray Holliday.
Root aims to continue the tradition of excellent service while bringing a fresh perspective to the business. “We’ve been able to carry on the legacy of exceptional customer service and a stunning selection of fine jewelry,” he said.
Root Jewelers specializes in engagement and wedding rings, custom designs, and expert jewelry repair services. “There’s a strong demand for high-quality repair work here in Southern Oregon,” Root explained. “We take pride in meeting that need while also helping customers create meaningful, one-of-a-kind pieces.”
As a Southern Oregon native with over eight years of experience in the jewelry industry, Root expressed his passion for the field. “It’s an incredibly rewarding field. You’re part of so many joyful milestones, celebrating with your customers every step of the way,” he shared.
Root Jewelers operates Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For more information, visit http://www.rootsjewelers.com or call 541-499-6877.
Both businesses say they are optimistic about the future and remain committed to the downtown core, while providing memorable experiences and exceptional service for their customers.
