Three-Alarm Fire Erupts on Front Street in Downtown Medford

Medford, Oregon – Emergency crews are actively responding to a three-alarm structure fire on the 300 block of Front Street in downtown Medford. The fire was first reported around 12:21p today, and was quickly upgraded to a second alarm. As additional units were dispatched, the fire was again upgraded to a third-alarm at 1:15p.

According to local authorities, multiple fire units were dispatched to the scene shortly after the fire was reported. Officials are urging the public to avoid the area to ensure safety and allow responders to work without obstruction.

No details have been released about the cause of the fire or potential injuries. Fire crews remain on-site to contain the blaze and prevent further damage to surrounding structures.

Medford Police have reported that as of 1:40p, 10th Street between Riverside and Fir is closed. Central Avenue is open to southbound traffic but heavily congested.

At 2:23p, Medford Fire provided the following update: The fire has been contained to the building of origin, but there is still a heavy resource presence in the area. Power and gas have been shut off for the entire block. There is no further threat to surrounding areas. Road closures remain in effect as crews continue their work. You may still see smoke in the area as we make substantial progress toward full containment.

The Medford Fire Department released the following statement 4:30p: Crews have made significant progress on the three-alarm structure fire in the 300 block of Front Street. As efforts shift to addressing hot spots and overhaul operations, some fire companies are being released from the scene.

Public Works crews are assisting with cleanup efforts, and 10th Street remains closed. Front Street and 11th Street are also still closed to ensure the safety of everyone in the area. The building was unoccupied, and fortunately, no injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
