
Portland, Oregon– A 52-year-old woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly threatening victims with a knife and stealing a sleeping bag in the Lloyd District neighborhood on Saturday, December 7, 2024.
Portland Police Bureau (PPB) officers responded at 10:59 a.m. to reports of a stabbing near North Williams Avenue and Northeast Multnomah Street. Officers arrived at the scene within four minutes but were unable to locate the alleged stabbing victim, described as an adult male, who had left the area before their arrival.
While investigating, officers were approached by two individuals camping in the area who reported being threatened by the same suspect. According to the victims, the suspect brandished a large knife and demanded their sleeping bag.
Police conducted a search and quickly apprehended the suspect, identified as Angelique Butler of Portland. Butler was found in possession of the stolen sleeping bag and a large knife.
Officers also searched the area but could not locate the alleged stabbing victim, and it remains unclear whether he was injured.
Butler was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of Robbery in the Second Degree, Menacing, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Disorderly Conduct in the Second Degree.
The PPB Major Crimes Unit assisted in the investigation and is seeking additional witnesses or victims.
