Medford, Oregon– Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies arrested a south Medford man on November 26 on child pornography charges following a lengthy investigation. David Lee Hurd, 54, is charged with 10 felony counts of second-degree encouraging child sexual abuse. He is being held at the Jackson County Jail.
The investigation began in 2023 when the Southern Oregon Child Exploitation Team (SOCET) received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). In August 2023, SOCET served a search warrant at Hurd’s residence in the 3700 block of South Pacific Highway. Digital devices were seized and examined for evidence of child exploitation by the Southern Oregon High Tech Crimes Task Force (SOHTCTF).
SOCET, formed in June 2020, is a collaborative task force that focuses on addressing child exploitation. It includes members from JCSO, the Oregon Department of Justice Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and prosecutors from local, state, and federal agencies in Jackson and Josephine Counties. SOHTCTF includes investigators from JCSO, HSI, Oregon State Police, and Medford Police Department.
The Jackson County District Attorney’s Office will prosecute the case. No further information is available.

All suspects are believed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
