Josephine County Couple Cited After Abandoning 36 Cats

Grants Pass, Oregon- On August 8, 2024, Josephine County Animal Control received a report of 36 cats abandoned at one of the gates of the Rogue Valley Humane Society. According to officials, the cats were left without food, water, or adequate shelter. The Humane Society immediately took the cats in, providing them with necessary medical attention and safe housing.

Over the following months, Animal Control continued its investigation into the incident. After analyzing video evidence and gathering community tips, Animal Control Officer Morgan and Deputy Simon identified two suspects. On November 14, 2024, they interviewed Jedediah and Harmony Wytcherley, who allegedly admitted to leaving the animals at the humane society gate.

Both suspects have been cited to appear in court on charges of Animal Abandonment and Animal Neglect in the Second Degree. The Josephine County District Attorney’s Office will review all gathered information and evidence to determine any further legal actions.

Authorities remark that this investigation remains active, with no additional details being released at this time.
