Medford Police Department Leads Domestic Violence Warrant Sweep

Medford, Oregon- On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, the Medford Police Department’s Domestic Violence Task Force coordinated a county-wide operation in partnership with multiple agencies to address outstanding family-violence-related warrants. The sweep, which took place across Jackson County, was part of a broader national effort to combat domestic violence.

Locally, the operation resulted in 15 arrests on a variety of charges related to family violence. A total of 23 law enforcement officers and four victim advocates were involved in the effort. The advocates assisted with providing services to victims, while the officers attempted to serve 73 outstanding warrants. Of these, 15 individuals were successfully arrested.

The operation included the participation of several local agencies: Medford Police Department, Ashland Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Talent Police Department, Jackson County Parole and Probation, and Community Works. Community Works, which is actively involved in victim advocacy, also supports the Medford Police Department’s Domestic Violence Task Force by providing an in-house advocate.

This collaborative effort highlights the ongoing issue of family and domestic violence and aims to hold offenders accountable. According to the Medford Police Department, their work in this area is a key part of their commitment to addressing domestic violence in the community. The department employs a full-time Domestic Violence Officer and maintains strong partnerships with agencies like Community Works to ensure continued support for victims and accountability for offenders.

The sweep was also part of a nationwide initiative to raise awareness about domestic violence and reinforce the message that perpetrators of such violence will face legal consequences.
