Motorcycle Collision Claims Life of Myrtle Creek Man

Riddle, Oregon- A fatal motorcycle vs. vehicle collision occurred on Friday night, October 11, 2024, on Riddle Bypass Road, resulting in the death of a Myrtle Creek man.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., emergency dispatchers received a report of the crash near the intersection of Riddle Bypass Road and E Street. Deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, along with fire and ambulance personnel, responded to the scene.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the incident involved a 2007 Toyota Tacoma, driven by 81-year-old Warren Currier of Riddle, and a 2024 Ninja Kawasaki motorcycle, operated by 20-year-old Gage Matthews of Myrtle Creek.

Currier was reportedly traveling southbound on Riddle Bypass Road when he attempted to make a left turn onto E Street. During the turn, his vehicle collided with the northbound motorcycle.

Gage Matthews was pronounced dead at the scene. Warren Currier sustained injuries and was transported to Mercy Medical Center for treatment.

The road was closed for approximately five hours while deputies conducted an investigation into the incident. The Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office, Riddle Fire District, and Umpqua Valley Ambulance also responded to assist.

Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing.
