Firefighters Contain Seven-Acre Blaze Near Eagle Point

Eagle Point, Oregon- Firefighters have successfully halted the progression of a fire that broke out near the intersection of Highway 234 and Highway 62. The blaze, which has consumed approximately seven acres, is now under control, thanks to the efforts of the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) and Jackson County Fire District 3.

An aggressive initial attack was mounted, involving numerous resources, including multiple fire engines and the district’s Type 2 and Type 3 helicopters. This swift and robust response was crucial in preventing the fire from spreading further.

Currently, there are no evacuations in place, but residents and travelers are advised to remain alert due to increased fire traffic in the area. Firefighters and equipment will remain on scene until the entire fire area is thoroughly mopped up to ensure no hot spots reignite.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Authorities have indicated that this will be the final update on the incident unless conditions change significantly.
