Medford Construction Contractor Arrested for Aggravated Theft

Talent, Oregon- On Sunday morning, the Talent Police Department made an arrest in the 3600 block of Mallard Lane in Medford. Curtis Buckelew, 52, of Medford, was taken into custody for Aggravated Theft 1 and Theft by Deception. He was subsequently lodged at the Jackson County Jail.

The arrest follows a thorough investigation initiated by the Talent PD last year into Buckelew and his company, “98 Restoration,” prompted by reports from former clients. These individuals alleged that despite paying Buckelew for both materials and labor, the contracted work remained unfinished.

Late last year, the case was escalated to the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office after an extensive investigation. Subsequently, a Grand Jury indicted Buckelew on charges including Theft in the First Degree, Falsifying Business Records, and Aggravated Theft in the First Degree.

Individuals impacted by Buckelew’s actions or possessing relevant information concerning these incidents are urged to contact Officer Ridenour at the Talent Police Department by dialing 541-535-1253.

This incident underscores the importance of exercising caution and thorough vetting when engaging the services of a contractor. The Oregon Construction Contractors Board website is a valuable resource for verifying the licensure status and accessing pertinent information regarding professionals in the field.
