JCFD3 and Partner Agencies Work Two Overnight Structure Fires

Central Point, Oregon- At approximately 03:22 am, emergency responders were alerted to a fire in the 6000 block of Azalea Drive in Central Point.

Callers reported smoke emanating from the roof of a single-family, manufactured home. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered an active attic fire.

During an interior search, crews encountered a ceiling collapse, impeding their initial entry point. Fortunately, they swiftly evacuated through an alternate route, avoiding injuries. Despite the setback, responders managed to contain the blaze from the exterior before resuming interior operations.

Thankfully, there were no reported injuries to residents or firefighters. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, with suspicions pointing towards faulty wood stove equipment.

Authorities emphasize the importance of prompt reporting to emergency services, stressing that delays can significantly impact response outcomes. The public is reminded that in such situations, the first step should always be to dial 911.


Rural Central Point, Oregon- At 06:16 am, emergency responders rushed to the intersection of N. Foothill Rd and Corey Road in Central Point following reports of a fire.

Callers initially expressed uncertainty regarding the source of the blaze, situated amidst a property abundant with vehicles and objects familiar to local authorities.

Upon arrival, crews were met with a fully engulfed single-wide manufactured home, with flames extending to the surrounding areas. Firefighters immediately adopted a defensive strategy to contain the spread of the fire.

Authorizes say the incident remains under investigation, with authorities yet to determine if the home was occupied prior to the fire. However, observations suggest it was in an abandoned, vacant state.

Efforts to find the cause of the fire are ongoing as responders work to ensure the safety and security of the affected area.
