White City, Oregon– The Medford Water Commission announces the start of a vital infrastructure project set to begin this month, with significant implications for traffic along Table Rock Road. This project aims to replace aging water mains, enhancing the region’s public infrastructure. However, motorists are advised to brace for temporary disruptions and traffic delays throughout the duration of the project, estimated to span a year.
The undertaking will entail extensive construction activities along Table Rock Road, stretching from the water treatment plant located on the banks of the Rogue River to Vilas Road in the south. As a consequence, intermittent lane closures and traffic slowdowns are anticipated as construction progresses.
Steve Lambert, the Director of Jackson County Roads and Parks, underscores the significance of the project while acknowledging the inconvenience it may pose to commuters. “This is a major project that will improve our public infrastructure, but it does not come without inconvenience,” Lambert stated. He further advises travelers utilizing Table Rock Road north of Vilas Road to anticipate delays and explore alternative routes to mitigate congestion.
Collaborative efforts between the Medford Water Commission, their appointed contractor, and Jackson County Roads aim to minimize disruptions to traffic flow. Nonetheless, motorists are urged to exercise caution, adhere to traffic control measures, and remain vigilant for workers and signage within the work zones.
For local traffic navigating through the designated work areas, the Medford Water Commission emphasizes the importance of reducing speed, exercising caution, and complying with all directives from flaggers and traffic control devices.
As the Medford Water Commission embarks on this critical infrastructure endeavor, the cooperation and patience of the community are invaluable in ensuring the project’s successful execution while minimizing inconvenience to residents and commuters alike.
- Medford Water will install 18,000 feet of new 42″ water transmission pipeline under and along Table Rock Road, from the Robert A. Duff Water Treatment Plant north of Kirtland Road to Vilas Road.
- This project will not only provide additional water transmission capacity to support the growing community, but it will also provide a seismically resilient connection from the water treatment plant to the rest of the distribution system.
- Contractor Pilot Rock Excavation will begin construction in the roadway, this month through 2025.
