Medford Police Release Information of Shooting Victim and Wanted Suspect

Suspect: Jesus Armando Pena Jr.

Medford, Oregon– Throughout Sunday, January 28, Medford Police Department (MPD) Detectives have pursued leads in the shooting case that unfolded at Weldon’s Laundromat on Crater Lake Avenue the previous evening. In a determined effort to locate the suspect, Jesus Armando Pena Jr., MPD executed two search warrants at separate locations.

At 8:00 AM, detectives, accompanied by the Medford Police Department SWAT team, served a warrant in the 400 block of Fairmount Street. Pena was not found during this operation. Later in the day, at 3:35 PM, another search warrant was executed in the 1400-block of Thomas Road, yielding no success in locating the suspect.

Pena, who recently escaped from Oregon Youth Authority custody, has only been in the Medford area for a short period. Warrants for his arrest are outstanding, and his current whereabouts and clothing details remain unknown.

The victim in this case has been identified as 51-year-old Justin William Keaton.

Name: Jesus Armando Pena Jr. (18 years old)
Description: Hispanic male, 5’7”, 175 lbs, black hair, brown eyes, light mustache/goatee. Do not approach if located, immediately call 911.


All suspects are believed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
