File Photo: 2021 Shooting at Weldon’s Cleaners

Medford, Oregon- At approximately 5:50 pm on January 27, 2024, multiple units from the Medford Police Department (MPD) rushed to Weldon’s Cleaners on the 600 block of Crater Lake Avenue following reports of a shooting incident. Witnesses at the scene revealed that one person was struck by gunfire.

MPD initiated a search for a white sedan believed to be involved in the incident, with at least one male occupant reportedly fleeing from the area on Crater Lake Avenue. The large police response underscores the urgency to apprehend those responsible.

Simultaneously, the Medford Fire Department dispatched an engine to the location; however, it was cleared after 15 minutes, indicating that the immediate need for medical assistance was no longer justified.

As of now, the status of the gunshot victim remains unconfirmed, and the whereabouts of the alleged shooter or shooters are unknown. Medford Alert is following the incident closely, and will be providing updates as official, confirmed information, becomes available.

This Weldon’s Cleaners location was the site of a May 2021 shooting homicide as well. The shooter in that incident was eventually arrested and charged with the crime. The 2021 shooting is not believed to be connected to today’s shooting.

This remains a developing situation, no additional information is available at this time
