Bend Man Arrested After Allegedly Stabbing-to-Death His Mother

Bend, Oregon –In a shocking incident that unfolded on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at approximately 9:23 a.m., the Bend Police Department responded to a distress call reporting a domestic dispute. The caller, informed authorities that a resident of the home had been stabbed.

Responding to the scene within one minute, Bend Police encountered 37-year-old Theodore John Bowser, a resident of the Lee Lane home. Bowser, identified as the suspect, was promptly taken into custody without incident.

Upon entering the residence, officers discovered the victim, 60-year-old Rene Lynn Carlson, who resided at the Lee Lane address along with Bowser and another family member. Despite immediate efforts to provide aid, Carlson succumbed to the injuries sustained during the altercation.

The authorities have charged Bowser with second-degree murder, and he is currently under investigation at the Bend Police Department. Subsequently, he will be transferred to St. Charles Bend, with plans for incarceration in the Deschutes County Jail upon discharge.

Assuring the public, law enforcement has stated that there is no lingering threat to the community.

Detectives, alongside the Oregon State Police Forensics Lab, are processing the crime scene to gather essential evidence.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities say further details will be released to the public.
