The body of 49-year-old Billy Wayne Whitehead was discovered on Thursday, November 9, 2023, around 9:30 p.m. near Wilbur Road off Highway 99. Responding to a 9-1-1 call, deputies confirmed the presence of the deceased individual.
Whitehead, previously reported missing to the Sutherlin Police Department on November 2, 2023, has been identified as the deceased. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office, is actively conducting a death investigation.
Authorities have notified the next of kin. A community social media page, setup to find him, mourned the loss of Billy Wayne Whitehead with a number of heartfelt posts by friends and family members.
The circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation, and updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
Mr. Whitehead listed Medford, along with other areas of Oregon, as previous areas where he had lived, on his social media page.
