One Dead After Several Separate October Shootings in Josephine County

During the month of October, the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office responded to three separate shooting incidents, one of which resulted in the death of an adult male. Each case has been referred to the District Attorney’s Office, leading to limited available information from the Sheriff’s Office.

Here are brief descriptions of each incident and their approximate locations:

  1. October 21st – Illinois Valley:
    An adult male was shot in the foot by a landowner. The incident occurred following a report of a restraining order violation in progress. The suspect survived this altercation.
  2. October 22nd – North Valley:
    On October 22nd, an adult male was shot in the neck by a homeowner as they pulled into their driveway. The suspect had attempted to enter the vehicle occupied by the homeowner and their spouse. The suspect survived this encounter.
  3. October 27th – Illinois Valley:
    In the Illinois Valley area, an adult male was shot and killed by a citizen. This incident transpired during a reported trespass call on private property, and the Oregon State Police are leading the investigation in this particular case.

As these cases have been referred to the District Attorney’s Office, the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office reports they cannot provide further information at this time.
