A Freeze Warning Remains in Effect for Southern Oregon and Siskiyou County
The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning in effect until 9 AM this morning, and another from 2 AM to 9 AM on Sunday. Here are the details:
What:
- For the first Freeze Warning, sub-freezing temperatures as low as 25 degrees are expected in southern Oregon and as low as 20 degrees in Siskiyou County.
- For the second Freeze Warning, sub-freezing temperatures as low as 24 degrees in southern Oregon and as low as 18 degrees in Siskiyou County are possible.
Where:
- In California, the warning covers Western Siskiyou County and Central Siskiyou County.
- In Oregon, it includes Central Douglas County, Eastern Curry County, Josephine County, and Jackson County, encompassing the Scott, Rogue, Klamath River, Shasta, Umpqua, and Illinois valleys.
When:
- The first Freeze Warning is in effect from 2 AM to 9 AM this morning.
- The second Freeze Warning will be in effect from 2 AM to 9 AM on Sunday.
Impacts:
- Frost and freeze conditions are expected to harm crops, sensitive vegetation, and may damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.
Additional Details:
- Some locations in far northwest Douglas County, including Scottsburg, are likely to remain above freezing with lows between 33 to 35 degrees.
Precautionary/Preparedness Actions:
- Take precautions now to protect tender plants from the cold.
- To prevent freezing and potential bursting of outdoor water pipes, wrap, drain, or allow them to drip slowly.
- Those with in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to shield them from freezing.
