Following numerous reports of bear sightings, local authorities have confirmed the presence of a bear in southwest Medford. The bear has been observed near Oakdale and 10th Street, as well as along Stewart Avenue, in close proximity to Fichtner-Mainwaring Park.
Law enforcement officials have verified that the bear is not displaying signs of aggression. The current approach is to provide the bear with space and time, allowing it to depart the area voluntarily.
Residents in the vicinity are advised to take the following precautions:
- Bring your pets indoors.
- Avoid leaving food accessible to the bear.
- Under no circumstances approach the bear if encountered.
