Two Dead and One Injured After Small Plane Crashes into Oregon Home

Last night, shortly before 7 p.m., residents in the vicinity of North Cedar Street in Newberg witnessed a small airplane plummeting towards the ground, ultimately crashing into a residential home.

Multiple calls to 911 alerted authorities to the plane’s descent, prompting firefighters to rush to the scene. The aircraft had pierced the roof of a home and ended up partially inside the residence and partly in the backyard. The initial assessment by firefighters confirmed the presence of two occupants inside the plane. Tragically, one of them was pronounced deceased at the crash site, while the other was extricated and transported via Life Flight helicopter to a Portland trauma hospital with severe injuries.

As emergency crews gained further access to the wreckage, a grim discovery was made – a third occupant in the aircraft had also tragically lost their life in the crash. Authorities say no one on the ground or in close proximity to the home sustained injuries during the incident. Swift action by first responders ensured the safe evacuation of occupants from the affected area, a fact confirmed in subsequent interviews with the homeowners.

The American Red Cross has been called into action to offer support to the displaced family, whose home bore the brunt of this crash. A Technical Rescue Team and Urban Search and Rescue crews were deployed to manage the scene, assess structural stability, and prepare for potential fire suppression. Fortunately, the aircraft and home never ignited into flames.

Authorities are now piecing together the puzzle surrounding this tragic event. The Newberg-Dundee Police Department is collaborating closely with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) to investigate the cause of the crash and the circumstances that led to the plane’s crash.
