Crash Shuts Down Southbound Lanes of Interstate 5 Near Border

UPDATE: Lanes have been reopened by authorities.

ODOT announced the southbound lanes of Interstate 5 were brought to a standstill due to a traffic collision. The crash, occurring approximately 3 miles north of the Oregon-California border, has resulted in a complete closure of the southbound lanes.

The crash, which is estimated to have happened around 2.5 miles into the southbound stretch of I-5, has led to immediate traffic disruptions in the area. Commuters and travelers are urged to exercise caution and seek alternate routes.

Authorities are currently at the scene, working to clear the wreckage and investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. While the nature and severity of the crash remain undisclosed at this time, it is advised that those intending to use this route should expect significant delays.

With the closure of the southbound lanes, traffic diversions and congestion are inevitable. Travelers should anticipate extended travel times and plan accordingly. Law enforcement and emergency services are on scene.

The exact duration of the closure remains uncertain, and authorities are working to restore normal traffic flow as swiftly as possible.
