On the morning of August 16, 2023, at 2:23a, the Siskiyou County Sheriffs Office located the body of Ken Lee Oliver, 71, of Scott Bar. Authorities say he was found in the driveway of his residence on Roxbury Drive, just off Scott River Road.
The communities of Scott Bar and Hamburg had been evacuations from the Head Fire, prompting an urgent response from the authorities on the evening of August 15. Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Deputies and first responders worked throughout the night, ensuring the safe evacuation of community members from their homes.
As the sun began to rise on the next day, the tragic discovery cast a shadow over the ongoing efforts. The circumstances surrounding Mr. Oliver’s death remain under investigation. A forthcoming autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of his passing.
