The Jackson County Fair has burst into action with an impressive first day, leaving fairgoers thrilled and excited. The event saw a massive turnout on Wednesday, as attendees flooded the fairgrounds, filling the parking lots to capacity. Helen Baker, the Jackson County Fair Manager, exclaimed, “Wow, what a night! So many showed up; we filled the parking lots!” The Fair’s grand opening witnessed an evening of entertainment and festivities for all.

One of the highlights of the evening was the electrifying performance by American recording artist Flo Rida, accompanied by Special Guest DJ Gemineye. The Bi-Mart Amphitheater was brimming with people dancing and enjoying Flo Rida’s chart-topping hit “Low.” When the infectious beats of “Jump” filled the air, the entire crowd joined in, creating an atmosphere of pure exhilaration.

Simultaneously, the Olsrud Auction Building became a buzzing hub of activity, hosting a packed audience who came out in full support of the 4H-FFA kids. This year’s swine auction featured an impressive lineup of 200 pigs, with each one fetching an average price of $19.36 per pound, surpassing last year’s average of $18.38. JB Dimick, the Jackson County Fair Board President and Jr. Livestock Committee Member, expressed his astonishment, stating, “The support always amazes me. $19.36 a pound is a new record once again.” The swine auction contributed to a total of $988,289.00 in auction sales, surpassing last year’s total of $928,086.00 after the swine sale.

The fair attracted a significant crowd on Wednesday, with a total attendance of 15,435 visitors. Anticipating the continued high turnout, fair organizers are encouraging attendees to utilize the shuttle services provided by the Eagle Point and Central Point School Districts. These shuttle services will be running today, Friday, and Saturday, shuttling visitors from Crater High School to the VIP North parking lot. The first bus departs from Crater at 3:30 pm, and the last bus from the Expo will leave at 11:30 pm (12:30 am on Friday and Saturday).
