Medford Man Identified as Victim in Deadly Motorcycle Crash

This is an update to our previous article regarding this incident.

On Tuesday, May 9, at approximately 1:29 P.M., the Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy 238, near milepost 28, in Jackson County.

The preliminary investigation indicated a BMW motorcycle, operated by Bryce Beal (56) of Medford, was traveling westbound on Hwy 238. The Motorcycle lost control while negotiating a corner and traveled into the eastbound lane. The motorcycle was struck by an on-coming Jeep Wrangler, operated by James Sweeney (61) of Vail (CO). 

The operator of the motorcycle (Beal) was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The operator of the Jeep (Sweeney) and passenger, Terry Dinkin (61) of Vail (CO), were not injured.

The highway was impacted for 3 hours during the on-scene crash investigation. 

OSP was assisted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the Medford Police Department, and ODOT.
