Medford Police Say Warming Fire May Have Ignited Three-Alarm Fire

Police say that the fires are mostly out, but there are concerns about runoff from fuels burned in the large fire last night. Several commercial buildings were damaged or destroyed.

Significant road closures around S. Central and S. Riverside between 10th Street and Barnett Road, as well as the area west of that. Expect these closures to last up to 48 hours.

As far as what caused the fire, the initial report was a warming fire by the railroad tracks. MPD will be working closely with Medford Fire to examine the scene once it’s safe to do so. Authorities stress that it is an active investigation.
