Portland Woman Arrested After High Speed Pursuit Involving Stolen BMW

Yesterday at about 3:30 p.m., a female later identified as Stephanie Chavez, 31, arrived at the Medford BMW dealership, located at the Oregon Auto Mall, to inquire about purchasing a new vehicle.

As staff was preparing a test drive for her, she jumped in a 2022 BMW 240 and and drove away. Employees tried to get her to stop as she left the parking lot, but she continued.

She drove out onto Hwy 62, towards Medford, where she passed an MPD officer, who began following her.

A traffic stop was attempted and she eluded north on Biddle, into Central Point and then on to I-5. Several officers tried to stop her with spike strips.

Once on I-5, the speeds reached over 100 before the tires were finally flattened and she came to a stop near mile post 51.

She was arrested by OSP, JCSO and Rogue River PD without incident.

She has been charged with Unlawful Use of a Vehicle, Felony Elude and Reckless Driving.

She provided an address out of Portland.
