CENTRAL POINT, Ore. (Jan. 22, 2026) — A 48-year-old man from the Las Vegas area was killed Wednesday evening after being struck by a pickup truck while crossing at the Interstate 5 Exit 33 northbound onramp in Central Point, authorities said.

Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon received a report of a pedestrian struck at about 5:39 p.m. at the intersection of Pine Street and the onramp. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Central Point police, Jackson County Fire District 3 and Mercy Flights responded to the scene. The vehicle involved was a 2022 GMC Sierra driven by a 65-year-old Central Point man.

The victim was transported by Mercy Flights to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later, officials said.

The Jackson County Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team was called in to conduct a full investigation. The team includes investigators from the sheriff’s office, Medford police, Central Point police, Ashland police and the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office. The roadway was closed for about three hours while investigators worked the scene, with Jackson County Roads assisting with traffic control.

Authorities said the driver is cooperating and that no criminal charges are being considered at this time based on preliminary findings. The results of the investigation will be forwarded to the district attorney’s office for review. The names of the driver and victim will not be released unless charges are filed.
