Dog-of-the-Week: “Skeeter” is Ready to Share Her Energetic Love

MEDFORD, Ore. — Meet Skeeter, a playful and energetic German shepherd mix with a love for people and plenty of personality. She is this week’s featured adoptable dog through the Medford Alert News Dog of the Week series, presented in partnership with Jackson County Animal Services.

Approximately 1 year old, Skeeter is an intelligent young dog who has already learned several basic commands, including sit, lie down and shake. Her playful personality and enthusiasm make her a promising companion for an active household.

According to Jackson County Animal Services, Skeeter has interacted well with other dogs during playgroups, although her excitement can occasionally overwhelm her four-legged companions. She enjoys playing and is still learning to recognize when other dogs are ready for a break.

Like many young German shepherd mixes, Skeeter requires regular physical exercise, mental stimulation and opportunities to expend her energy. Without sufficient activity and enrichment, she can become frustrated.

Animal Services believes Skeeter would be a good match for an active family willing to provide consistent structure, engaging activities and plenty of toys to keep her entertained.

For households with existing dogs, meet-and-greet introductions are recommended to help determine compatibility before adoption.

With her intelligence, affectionate personality and enthusiasm for play, Skeeter is looking for a family ready to embrace her energy and provide the attention and enrichment she needs to thrive.

The Medford Alert News Dog of the Week series, in partnership with Jackson County Animal Services, highlights adoptable dogs in hopes of connecting them with loving homes throughout the Rogue Valley.

The shelter encourages potential adopters to meet in person. The facility is open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

Those interested in adopting or learning more can contact the shelter directly at 541-774-6654.
