MEDFORD, Ore. (Oct. 5, 2026) — The City of Medford is notifying utility customers of a billing system error that is causing some recent utility payments to appear as payments to the Medford Police Department on customers’ bank or credit card statements.
The city said the issue is affecting how payments are displayed on financial statements. The payments were still made to the City of Medford for utility services and have been properly applied to customers’ utility accounts.
The issue appears to be affecting payments made within the last several business days, according to the city.
City staff are working with the city’s billing vendor to determine the cause of the error and correct the issue before future billing cycles.
Customers do not need to take any action at this time, the city said.
The city apologized for any confusion caused by the error and thanked customers for their patience while the issue is resolved.
