RVTD to Add Saturday, Evening Service and Restore Jacksonville Route

MEDFORD, Ore. (Sep. 30, 2026) — The Rogue Valley Transportation District Board of Directors has approved expanded bus service beginning Dec. 7, including Saturday service, weekday evening service and the restoration of service to Jacksonville.

The service expansion is funded through a special levy approved by voters in May and was developed in response to feedback from RVTD passengers. The district said planners considered community input and operational needs when determining the new hours, which will differ slightly from previous service schedules.

The expansion also includes changes to Route 30 service to Jacksonville. Beginning Dec. 7, the route will travel along West Main Street rather than West Jackson Street and will turn around at Ray’s Food Place. Route 30 will make six trips on weekdays and five trips on Saturdays.

The RVTD Board held a public hearing Sept. 23 before voting on the service increase. More than 20 community members attended and spoke in support of expanded service, according to RVTD.

Those speaking included students, older adults, people with disabilities, representatives of nonprofits and others who rely on public transportation.

RVTD also received written comments from seven members of the public, verbal support from the cities of Medford and Ashland, and a letter from the Housing Authority of Jackson County.

RVTD said the additional service is intended to address transportation needs identified directly by passengers and members of the community.

“This is a BIG WIN for our community and demonstrates what a little local funding can do to improve lives,” RVTD said in announcing the service expansion.

The new service schedule, including hours of operation for weekdays and Saturdays, will take effect Dec. 7, 2026.
