MEDFORD, Ore. (Sep. 16, 2026) — A series of small but powerful thunderstorms moved through the Rogue Valley Wednesday evening, bringing strong winds, hail and widespread power outages across the region.
As of 7:55 p.m., more than 15,000 customers were without power, according to outage information available at the time.
The National Weather Service in Medford issued multiple weather alerts throughout the evening, including a severe thunderstorm warning for portions of central Jackson County, including Medford, Central Point, Jacksonville and White City.
The warning covered an area with more than 135,000 residents and advised of the potential for wind gusts of up to 60 mph, quarter-size hail and other severe weather.
Unofficial observations from northeast Medford reported sustained winds of approximately 32 mph, with gusts reaching 42 mph.
Pacific Power estimated that power restoration could occur by approximately 5 a.m. Thursday, though restoration times can vary depending on the extent and location of damage.
