PORTLAND, Ore. (Aug. 2, 2026) — Six people were injured in an early Sunday morning shooting in Northeast Portland, prompting a major police investigation and multiple road closures as detectives worked to gather evidence and locate those responsible.
According to the Portland Police Bureau, officers assigned to North Precinct responded at approximately 3:33 a.m. Sunday to reports of a shooting in the 5800 block of Northeast Alberta Street.
When officers arrived, they found two people suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported by ambulance to area hospitals.
A short time later, investigators learned that four additional victims had arrived at local hospitals in private vehicles. Preliminary information indicates those individuals were also injured in the same shooting, bringing the total number of victims to six.
Authorities said the conditions of the victims have not yet been released, and their prognoses remain unknown.
The suspect or suspects fled the scene before officers arrived, and no arrests had been made as of Sunday morning.
Police established a large crime scene to allow investigators to process evidence. Northeast Alberta Street remains closed between Northeast 57th Avenue and Northeast 60th Avenue, while Northeast 57th Avenue is closed between Northeast Alberta Street and Northeast Wygant Street.
Detectives with the Portland Police Bureau’s Homicide Unit have taken over the investigation. Investigators believe numerous people were present before and during the shooting but have not yet spoken with police.
Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to submit a tip to the Portland Police Bureau.
