MEDFORD, Ore. (Aug. 1, 2026) — A fatal motor vehicle crash has closed a section of Old Stage Road as investigators work to determine what led to the collision, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputies, along with a number of other emergency service personnel responded to the crash on Old Stage Road near Westover Boulevard. The crash resulted in one confirmed fatality, authorities said.
The Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) Team has taken over the investigation to determine the cause of the crash. The STAR Team is comprised of investigators from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Medford Police Department who specialize in reconstructing serious and fatal traffic collisions.
As the investigation continues, Old Stage Road is closed between Erline Way and Sylvia Road. Motorists are urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes until the roadway reopens.
Authorities have not released the identity of the person who died or any additional details about the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said no further information is available for release at this time.
UPDATE: The roadway is now open.
