Missing 75-Year-Old Woman Found Safe After Massive Two-Day Search Near Rogue River

ROGUE RIVER, Ore. (Jun. 30, 2026) — A 75-year-old woman reported missing in the Wimer area was found safe Sunday morning after an extensive two-day search involving local, state, federal and volunteer search teams, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said.

The woman was reported missing around 11 a.m. Saturday after she was last known to be driving in the rural Wimer area near Rogue River, according to the sheriff’s office.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue personnel immediately launched a search, with aircraft support provided by Oregon State Police. Throughout Saturday, search crews worked alongside Evans Valley Fire District 6, whose personnel helped coordinate and conduct operations in the rugged terrain.

As the search continued into Sunday, the California and Oregon Regional Search and Rescue Task Force activated additional resources from across the region. Search personnel from Douglas, Klamath, Siskiyou and Lake counties joined the effort, along with the Bureau of Land Management, private timber company security personnel and numerous volunteers.

At approximately 11:45 a.m. Sunday, local volunteer pilots spotted the missing woman, allowing search teams to quickly reach her location. Sheriff’s office search and rescue personnel contacted the woman, assisted her to safety and evaluated her after she was found. Authorities said she is doing well.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office credited the successful outcome to the coordinated efforts of multiple agencies and volunteers, with special recognition given to Evans Valley Fire District 6 for its partnership throughout the operation.

The agency also thanked its search and rescue volunteers, who dedicated many hours over two days to help bring the search to a safe conclusion.

“Our SAR volunteers’ willingness to answer the call at a moment’s notice continues to make a difference for our community,” the sheriff’s office said.
