
GRANTS PASS, Ore. (Jun. 15, 2026) — Authorities searching for a missing 78-year-old Josephine County woman say new information indicates she was seen early Monday morning at the Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport before leaving the area on foot.
The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office said it received a report around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, June 14, that Peggy Peery had gone missing from the Colonial Valley area near Grants Pass. Investigators believe Peery walked away from her residence sometime after 10:30 a.m. that day.
On Monday, officials announced they had received a tip that Peery had been given a ride to the Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport. According to the sheriff’s office, airport security footage captured Peery at approximately 4 a.m. Monday. Authorities said she was later seen leaving the airport property on foot.
The Medford Police Department has been notified and is assisting with the investigation. Updated photographs taken from airport surveillance footage have been added to missing person flyers to help identify the clothing Peery was wearing at the time.
Peery is described as a white female with red hair and green eyes. She is 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds. Authorities said she is believed to be carrying a custom-made blue madrone walking stick.
The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office has activated Search and Rescue teams, while sheriff’s office volunteers continue efforts to locate Peery.
Anyone who has seen Peery or has information regarding her whereabouts is urged to contact the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office at 541-474-5123. The case number is 26-16399.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding how Peery arrived at the airport or where she may have traveled after leaving the area on foot.
