MEDFORD, Ore. (Jun. 8, 2026) — The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a person suspected of stealing money collected for the operation and maintenance of the county’s park system.
Authorities released a photograph of the individual and are encouraging anyone who recognizes the person to contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at 541-776-7206 and ask to speak with a deputy.
According to the sheriff’s office, the suspect is believed to have stolen funds collected through park fee collection boxes. Officials said the theft directly impacts the county’s ability to maintain and improve park facilities and provide services for visitors.
“Every dollar stolen is a dollar that cannot be invested back into our parks through improvements, maintenance, and visitor services,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
Officials are also urging residents and park visitors to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity. Anyone who witnesses someone tampering with fee collection boxes or engaging in suspicious behavior within county parks is asked to immediately contact ECSO Dispatch at 541-776-7206.
The investigation remains ongoing.
